Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a religious education curriculum that helps children engage in prayer at a young age. It uses the Montessori learning method by allowing children to work with the material at their level and as they desire, guided by the adult catechist who gradually exposes them to the material in the classroom throughout the year. Much of the material focuses on Gospel stories and the liturgy and is taught in such a way as to lead the child to wonder and pray about the Gospel stories and participate in the liturgy.
This ministry at St. Bernard is offered for 3 to 5-year-olds. You do not have to be a St. Bernard Parishioner to enroll.
CGS will be taught on Tuesday evenings during the school year beginning on August 29th, from 5:30-6:30 PM. The cost is $25 per child. The entire schedule for the school year can be found below, along with registration.
